K-8 Special Education Teacher for SY2025-2026, 1.0 FTE

Badger Community School is seeking a full time (1.0 FTE) K-8 Special Education teacher to begin next fall for the 2025-2026 academic year starting approximately August 25, 2025.  This position has the support of a dedicated staff which is a vibrant mix of veteran and younger educators focused on serving the needs of students and each other.

Full Time Opportunity: This full-time (1.0 FTE) position is an Elementary Middle School Special Education Teacher position working with children in grades K-6 and teaming with the High School (grades 7-12) Special Education Teacher in sharing grades 7-8. Services provided to students in grades 7 and 8 may be shared or team-taught between these two positions striving to balance caseloads.

Overview: This Special Education teaching position is part of Badger Community School's K-12 educational program. Each teacher works within a team structure to provide specialized instruction to students with multi-categorical disabilities. The team structure includes general education teachers, another special education teacher, paraprofessionals, related service providers with Northwest Regional Inter-District Cooperative, and administration. Each teacher may collaborate within the general education setting or teach individuals or small groups within the special education resource room. Each teacher plans jointly with the general education teachers to provide the accommodations and modifications necessary in order for the student to access and make progress within the general education curriculum. This position has the support of a dedicated staff which is a vibrant mix of veteran and younger educators focused on serving the needs of students and each other.

Badger is a stable, right-sized smaller school near the northern border of greater Minnesota located on State Highway 11. It does not take too much imagination to come up with four seasons of fun with the neighboring forest areas, inviting rivers and wetlands, golf courses and recreational trails. Fishing Lake of the Woods is less than an hour drive from Badger.

Licensure: Any and all special education licenses or function codes will be considered. Applicants must be licensed by the Minnesota PELSB to teach in one or more of the following areas for grades K-8, or be able to obtain such licensure, by August 25, 2025: Academic and Behavioral Strategist ABS, Emotional Behavior Disorders EBD, Developmental Disabilities DD, Autism Spectrum Disorder ASD, or Learning Disabilities LD.

Teacher candidates licensed in areas other than special education are also welcome to apply. Badger Public School will explore out-of-field permissions if necessary within accordance of PELSB guidelines and timelines.

Pay and Benefits: Starting pay will be no less than $47,062 and may be up to $75,235 based on education and experience along with a comprehensive benefit package including the following:
 

  • School District contribution towards the premium cost of enrollment in the school district’s group health and hospitalization plan – $6125 annually for single coverage, $11,150 annually for family coverage;
  • School district contribution of $70 per month to eligible employee’s individual Health Savings Account;
  • School District will match up to $1,200 in contributions to a 403B retirement plan;
  • School District contribution of $30 per month towards the premium cost of enrollment in the school district’s dental insurance plan;
  • Teachers receive 16 PTO days annually. Days can be carried over from year to year, accruing to a maximum of 135 days.

Other income opportunities may also include cocurricular advising, directing or coaching athletics; however, not required.
