Title I Paraprofessional
General Definition of Work
Performs intermediate human support work monitoring students’ academic and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the limited supervision of the Elementary Principal.

Essential Functions
- Follows student intervention plans
- Communicates with classroom teachers and parents
- Attends meetings as assigned
- Supervises morning activities, lunchroom, recess, after school activities and bathroom breaks
- Assists students with clothing (shoes, zippers, gloves etc.)
- Assists students walking to classrooms and lunchroom etc.
- Administers minor First Aid when required
- Administers FAST assessments
- Runs math and literacy intervention groups
- Collects and record data
- Patient, kind, and encouraging
- Comfortable with technology (laptops, SMART Boards, Google Docs/Sheets)
- Performs other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
General knowledge of FAST Assessment; thorough knowledge of standard office equipment and software; ability to make arithmetic computations using whole numbers, fractions and decimals; ability to compute rates, ratios and percentages; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, students, parents, and elected officials.
Education and Experience
Associate’s degree or higher
Physical Requirements
This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 50 pounds of force; work regularly requires speaking or hearing, frequently requires standing, walking, sitting, and using hands to finger, handle, or feel and occasionally requires stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, pushing or pulling and lifting; work requires close vision and distance vision; vocal communication is required for expressing and exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word and conveying detailed or important instruction to others accurately, loudly, or quickly; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels and to receive detailed information thorough oral communications and/or to make fine distinctions in sound; work requires observing generals surroundings and activities; work occasionally requires exposure to outdoor weather conditions, exposure to bloodborne pathogens and may be required to wear specialized personal protective equipment and exposure to bodily fluids; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic).
Special Requirements
Paraprofessional Test within six months of employment if applicant does not hold an Associate’s Degree or higher
Bloodborne Pathogen Training upon hire
Medical Training with School Nurse (medications, seizures, Epi Pen etc.)
Other required trainings upon hire (i.e. bullying and harassment, mandated reporter, confidentiality, etc…).
