Description
WORK HOURS:
6.5 hours per day (3.25 hours as an instructional paraprofessional and 3.25 hours as a Special Education Level VI Paraprofessional), Monday through Friday, for 172 contract days (170 student contact days plus 2 inservice days during the school year) per school year.
JOB DUTIES:
Instructional School Readiness duties may include:
1. Assist student(s) with classroom needs (e.g., academic skills, behavior management, social skills, etc.)
2. Supervise students in Early Childhood
Special Eduction Level VI duties may include:
1. Assist student(s) with special needs throughout the school day with instruction in basic skills, social skills and routine assistance for students who need support with managing extreme behaviors, toileting, hygiene, medical and mobility needs
2. Supervise special education student(s) to ensure safety
3. Assist with collecting and monitoring of student progress data.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. High School diploma
2. Highly Qualified per MDE requirements for special education paraprofessionals* or willing to become Highly Qualified within 60 days of employment
3. Acceptance of students’ disabilities and limitations
4. Must be able to lift, pull, or move a minimum of 50 pounds
5. Accepts direction from supervising teacher(s) and is willing to work as a team
6. Ability to:
a. Implement instructions in a developmentally appropriate manner
b. Communicate with staff, students, and parents
c. Understand and implement behavior management techniques
d. Interact and direct students in a positive manner
e. Work independently and as a team
f. Must be able to lift, push, and pull a minimum of 50 pounds
g. Accept direction from supervising teacher(s) and will to work as a team

SALARY and BENEFITS:
Salary based on the 2023-2025 Paraprofessional Agreement:
Instructional School Readiness Paraprofessional — Level V, Step 2 at $19.35 per hour.
Special Education Level VI Paraprofessional — Level VI, Step 2 at $20.52 per hour.
