Position Hours: 35 hrs/week; M-F
Contracted Days: 180 days/year
Location: Tower-Soudan School, Tower, MN 

The Indigenous Support Advocate I will collect and assess data to provide intervention assistance and direct academic support to American Indian students in the educational setting.  This position will work closely under the American Indian Education Director at assigned schools to meet the unique educational and cultural needs of American Indian students and achieve program goals. 

Position Qualifications:

  • 2 years experience working directly with children or young adults in an educational setting
  • Sensitivity to cultural differences
  • Strong academic skills to assist students in the PK-6 educational setting
  • Ability to build relationships, problem solve in the work environment, and adapt to changes in the work setting
  • Ability to work independently
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Basic computer skills
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in education, psychology, counseling, cultural studies, or related field from accredited 4 year university or college
  • 3-5 years or more teaching or counseling experience working directly with American Indian students or other culturally diverse student populations and their families
  • Knowledge or understanding of American Indian culture
