General Definition of Work
Performs intermediate skilled administrative support work performing clerical duties for the human resources department, finance and operations department, and related work as apparent or assigned.  Work is performed under the limited supervision of the Director of Human Resources & Finance and Operations.
 
Qualification Requirements

Essential Functions
Provides customer and staff service with routine human resources and finance and operations related requests and questions.
Assists with  new hire meetings.
Submits background checks; submits workers compensation claims.
Distributes and tracks various forms for both departments.
Files and scans human resources and finance and operations documents.
Processes name changes and demographic changes; provides written and verbal employment verifications; administers employee identification procedures.
Assists with employee leave forms.
Prepares invoices for mailing.
Prepares P-Card statement for account holders.
 
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Thorough knowledge of district policies, manuals, programs, processes, and procedures; thorough knowledge of business English, spelling, and arithmetic; thorough knowledge of standard office practices, procedures, and equipment; general knowledge of human resources records, forms, and invoices; general knowledge of school forms and records.
Thorough skill operating standard office equipment and applicable hardware and software; thorough skill operating standard tracking software; thorough skill operating standard background and records checking software; general skill operating standard office equipment and applicable hardware and software.
Ability to make arithmetic computations using whole numbers, fractions and decimals; ability to compute rates, ratios and percentages; ability to operate a variety of office equipment; ability to meet the public effectively; ability to follow oral and written instructions; ability to communicate effectively both orally and in written format with people with varying levels of English capability; ability to maintain composure and display problem solving skills; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, administrators, applicants, vendors and the general public.
 
Education and Experience
High school diploma or GED and considerable experience performing human resources clerical duties, or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Associates/Technical degree preferred.
 
Physical Requirements
This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds of force; work regularly requires sitting, frequently requires speaking or hearing, using hands to finger, handle or feel, reaching with hands and arms and repetitive motions and occasionally requires standing, walking and lifting; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, operating machines and observing general surroundings and activities; work has no exposure to environmental conditions; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic).
 
Special Requirements
Experience working in a multi-cultural setting and with diverse groups of people preferred.
Alternatives to the qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable will also be considered.
Valid driver’s license in the State of Minnesota.
