Job Title: High School Special Education Teacher

Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate High School Special Education Teacher licensed preferably in Developmental Cognitive Disability (DCD) and/or Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with diverse learning needs, fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment, and collaborating with parents, teachers, and specialists to promote student success.
Key Responsibilities:

Individualized Education Programs (IEPs):
- Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs for students.
- Conduct assessments to identify students’ needs and track progress.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to set realistic goals and accommodations.

Instructional Support:
- Design and deliver differentiated instruction tailored to students’ unique learning styles and abilities.
- Utilize evidence-based teaching strategies and interventions.
- Integrate assistive technology to enhance learning outcomes.

Classroom Management:
- Create a structured, positive, and inclusive classroom environment.
- Implement behavior management plans and positive reinforcement techniques.
- Ensure safety and accessibility in the classroom.

Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with general education teachers to support inclusion.
- Engage with parents and guardians to provide regular updates on student progress and address concerns.
- Coordinate with speech therapists, occupational therapists, and other specialists.

Professional Development:
- Stay current with best practices, research, and legal requirements in special education.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities.
- Contribute to school-wide initiatives and professional learning communities.

Administrative Duties:
- Maintain accurate and confidential student records.
- Prepare required reports and documentation for compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Attend and contribute to IEP meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and staff meetings.
Qualifications:
- Valid teaching license in Special Education with endorsements in preferrably in Developmental Cognitive Disability (DCD) and/ or Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD).
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or related field (Master’s preferred).
- Proven experience working with high school-aged students who have learning challenges.
- Strong understanding of IDEA and other relevant special education laws and regulations.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and support students as needed.
- Ability to navigate the school environment and classroom settings.
- Capability to handle the physical demands of working with young children.
