High School Special Education Paraprofessional

Summary:
The Special Education Paraprofessional will work under the direction of the special education teacher to support students with disabilities. This position is approximately 33.75 hours per week; working from 7:45 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on student contact days only.

Responsibilities:
– Assist the special education teacher with the implementation of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for students with disabilities
– Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with disabilities in the classroom or in a separate setting
– Assist with classroom management and behavior support for students with disabilities
– Assist with the preparation and adaptation of instructional materials and activities
– Monitor and document student progress and behavior
– Assist with personal care needs of students with disabilities, including toileting and feeding
– Communicate with parents, teachers, and other staff regarding student progress and needs
– Attend meetings and training sessions as required

Requirements:
– Must have a H.S. diploma. Associates Degree or higher preferred. And/or obtain a Parapro certificate.
– Experience working with students with disabilities preferred.
– Ability to work effectively with students, teachers, and parents.
– Ability to follow directions and work independently.
– Good communication and interpersonal skills.
– Ability to maintain confidentiality.
– Physical ability to assist with personal care needs of students with disabilities.
