Description
A substitute for the Health Office provides first aid and emergency treatment, illness monitoring, and uncomplicated medical tasks for which they have been specifically trained to complete. A Health Office Substitute is contacted on an as needed basis and is assigned based on their availability.
Responsibilities
- After initial training, under the remote supervision and direction of the Full-Time Health Office Professional, the Health Office Substitute will follow established policies and procedures to perform assigned medical tasks. These tasks may include but are not limited to…
- Provide services to students with chronic medical conditions such as diabetes, asthma, allergies, etc.
- Distribute medications as prepared by the Health Office Professional.
- Documentation of medical tasks and completing reports as needed.
- Communicating with supervising Health Office staff, school, and district personnel.
- Providing first aid and responding to emergencies in the school according to established procedures
- Monitor and care for minor illness in the Health Office while waiting for parent arrival.
Qualifications
- Certification/License/Degree in Medicine or Nursing: Will consider Advanced Practice Providers, Nurses (RN or LPN), Paramedics, and EMTs
- Must be CPR Certified
- Will need to pass a Criminal History Clearance
- Feels comfortable working with preschool children through adults.
