Job Description/Duties:
The head gymnastics coach will be responsible for leading the HLWW gymnastics team and program within the philosophy of the HLWW Activities Department and in accordance with the MSHSL. This person must build relationships and work successfully with student-athletes, assistant coaches, parents, the community, the Activities Director, school administration, as well as other programs and coaches in the district. This person oversees all things HLWW gymnastics from elementary to high school including but not limited to the following:

Varsity, Junior Varsity, Junior High student-athletes

Coaching staffÂ

Student volunteers and team managers

Equipment and supplies for all team levels (Grades 7-12)

Scheduled Hours and Days per Week:
2023Â Season Dates: November 6, 2023- February 24, 2023
Practice and Meet times as scheduled throughout the season – there will be weekend and
evening competitions.Â

Job Goals:Â

To instruct athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success.Â

At the same time, the coach must instruct and demonstrate behaviors that lead to socially acceptable character development, self-discipline, self-confidence, and pride ofÂ
accomplishment in the student athletes.Â

To upgrade his/her knowledge and skills through coaching clinics, observations, consultation, etc.Â
Â
Public Relations:
-
Organizes parents, coaches, players and guests for preseason meetings.Â

Promotes cross country within the school through recruiting athletes who are not in another sports program and promotes cross country outside the school through news media or in any other feasible manner.Â

Responsible for the quality, effectiveness and validity of any oral or written release to local media.Â

Responsible for maintaining good public relations with news media, booster club, parents, officials, volunteers and fans.Â

Presents information to news media concerning schedules, tournaments and results.Â
