Job Summary:
The Head Girl’s Lacrosse Coach will be responsible for leading the AVHS Lacrosse team and program within the philosophy of the AVHS Athletic Department and in accordance with the MSHSL. This person must build relationships and work successfully with student-athletes, assistant coaches, parents, the community, the Athletic Director, school administration and teachers, as well as other programs and coaches in the district.
Responsibilities:
This person oversees all things AVHS Lacrosse from youth to high school including but not limited to the following:
- Varsity, Junior Varsity, and lower-level teams
- Coaching staff
- Student volunteers and team managers
- Equipment and supplies for all team levels (Grades 9-12)
- Working with youth lacrosse association
Scheduled Hours and Days per Week:
Practice and game times as scheduled throughout the season, including weekend and evening competitions. There are also offseason duties and expectations.
Job Goals:
- To instruct athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training necessary for them to realize individual and team success.
- The coach must instruct and demonstrate behaviors that lead to high character development and strong leadership skills.
- To upgrade his/her knowledge and skills through coaching clinics, observations, consultation, etc.
Public Relations:
- Organizes parents, coaches, players, and guests for preseason meetings.
- Promotes lacrosse within the school by recruiting athletes who are not in another sports program and promotes lacrosse outside the school through news media, youth programs, and community involvement.
- Works with the booster club to promote positive experiences for students on and off the field.
- Responsible for maintaining good public relations with news media, booster club, parents, officials, volunteers, and fans.
- Presents information to news media concerning schedules, scores, statistics, and awards.
