Job Description/Duties:

The Head Boys’ Volleyball Coach will be responsible for leading the AVHS Volleyball program within the philosophy of the AVHS Athletic Department and in accordance with the MSHSL. This person must excel in building relationships with student-athletes, parents, community, and staff.

Responsibilities:

This person oversees all aspects of the AVHS Boys Volleyball program from youth to high school, including but not limited to the following:

  • Varsity, Junior Varsity

  • Coaching staff

  • Student volunteers and team managers

  • Equipment and supplies for all team levels (Grades 9-12)

  • Coordination with the youth volleyball association

Scheduled Hours and Days per Week:

  • Practice and game times as scheduled throughout the season, including weekend and evening competitions.

  • Offseason duties and expectations.

Job Goals:

  • Instruct athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training necessary for them to realize individual and team success.

  • Demonstrate and teach behaviors that lead to high character development and strong leadership skills.

  • Upgrade knowledge and skills through coaching clinics, observations, consultations, etc.

Public Relations:

  • Organize preseason meetings for parents, coaches, players, and guests.

  • Promote volleyball within the school by recruiting athletes not involved in other sports programs and promote volleyball outside the school through news media, youth programs, and community involvement.

  • Work with the booster club to create positive experiences for students on and off the court.

  • Maintain good public relations with news media, booster club, parents, officials, volunteers, and fans.

  • Present information to news media concerning schedules, scores, statistics, and awards.
