Job Title: Upper School Global Leadership Integration Teacher

Sejong Academy is seeking a Global Leadership teacher for the 2024-2025 school year. The successful candidate will provide highly-effective and high-quality instruction while taking an inquiry and project based approach to developing global leadership skills in order to foster students’ personal and professional development. The successful candidate will work well with colleagues to coordinate and deliver Sejong’s Global Leadership Program course, which will focus on five themes: applied ethics, effective communication, intercultural understanding, personal development, and thinking process. This person will also help guide students on their reflective projects.
Essential Functions: Essential functions, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include any of the following representative duties, knowledge, and skills. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Collaborate with team to provide effective, developmentally-appropriate and differentiated instruction for diverse learners in grades 6-12.
- Regularly assess student learning of subject content and language using multiple forms of assessment.
- Advise students on the independent research process, helping them decide their project focus, conduct research, and analyze ethical dilemmas in a global context.
- Guide students in understanding the broader implications of their learning on global development and their roles as global citizens.
- Promote cooperation, assertion, responsibility, empathy and self-control among students, as well as conflict resolution strategies. Establish developmentally-appropriate behavioral expectations for students.
- Family Communication: keep families informed of class and school happenings. May include newsletter, website posts, etc.
- Meet Sejong Academy’s standards for performance and attendance.
- Maintain a focus on the positive energy to maintain a healthy school climate.
- Promote our Global Leadership Program by participating in student recruitment and registration activities, as well as collaborating with community partners
- Coordinate student and course records in school systems and generate reports as required
Qualifications:
- Current MN teaching license
- Experience working in a school setting with a high percentage of low-income students
- Experience working with refugee experienced students/ families
- Familiarity with Korean language and culture (fluency preferred)
- Experience working with Synergy, Schoology and Toddle highly preferred
