JOB SUMMARY
Â
The Servant Leader Interns work, lead, and teach scholars with the curriculum provided by CDF Freedom Schools. The mission of CDF Freedom Schools programs is to boost scholar motivations to read, generate more positive attitudes toward learning, increase self esteem and connect the needs of scholars and families to the resources of their communities. This program serves scholars in grades 7-9 for six weeks.Â

The activity based Integrated Reading Curriculum (IRC), which is aligned to the Common Core State Standards, integrates reading about conflict resolution, social action, and it is designed to promote social, cultural, and historical awareness. A multi-year assessment of CDF Freedom Schools program sites continuously demonstrated the effectiveness of the IRC, which has proven to avert children’s summer learning loss in reaching achievement.Â

The Servant Leader Interns will work closely with the Freedom School Site Coordinators to provide phenomenal, authentic, enriching experiences for all scholar participants. By utilizing the CDF Freedom Schools framework and curriculum, along with an anti-racist lens, we will promote a holistic learning environment for every scholar. Â

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serve as a positive role model for all scholars.Â
- Supervise and maintain the safety of scholars.
- Maintain a professional decorum.
- Set up, manage and break down classroom space according to standards outlined by CDF and the sponsor organization.
- Engage a maximum of 10 scholars per class in the Integrated Reading Curriculum.
- Attend all required trainings.
- Work with site staff to ensure that all program components are implemented with fidelity.
- Report any issues or concerns regarding program operations to the Site Coordinator.Â

- Understands the role systemic racism has played in education and is committed to taking an anti-racist approach in all work functions

EDUCATION / CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
- Must have completed at least one year of college.Â
Â
 EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Exhibit positive behavior and attitude, modeling a mature and professional demeanor.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.  Â

Compensation and Schedule Information:Â
- Compensation: $27.00 hourly
- 8 hours per day, Monday – Friday
