POSITION TITLE:     Food Service Substitute

FLSA:     Non-Exempt
 
QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to read and communicate in English
  • Follow instructions and take initiative in performance of assigned tasks
  • Ability to adapt to sudden and/or unpredictable changes in the day’s tasks or work flow
  • Accurately count, weigh, and measure
  • Physical ability to walk, stoop, stand, twist, reach, and squat on a constant basis
  • Physical ability to use hands and fingers dexterously
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds occasionally and up to 10 pounds frequently

 
ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Must work in a hot, humid environment
  • Must work in a cold, or below zero environment for short periods 
  • Must work in a noisy environment

 
REPORTS TO:     Director of Food & Nutrition Services
 
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Interact with staff, students, faculty, visitors, and co-workers in a pleasant and professional manner
  2. Complete tasks as assigned by the kitchen lead cook or in-charge individual
  3. Serve food according to recipe portion or as instructed
  4. Wash trays, pans, and other items using dish machine or three (3) compartment sink
  5. Disassemble serving line and clean serving area
  6. Assist in total kitchen clean up
  7. Perform cleaning tasks as assigned
  8. Performs all tasks in accordance with HACCP guidelines

  
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Reports to work at scheduled time with proper uniform & appropriately groomed
  2. Adheres to all school district, building, and department rules & regulations
  3. Utilizes proper hand washing techniques
  4. Participates in meetings, training sessions & seminars as scheduled
  5. Completes other tasks as assigned
