Food Service Aide
5.5 hours per day

 
Position Purpose:
Under the direct supervision of the building Principal, Food Service Director, and Building Lead Cook assists in preparing and serving staff and student meals in accordance with Board policy and established district procedures.

Essential Functions:

  • Food prep, serving, clean up and assisting the lead cook
  • Assists with serving student and staff meals
  • Assists in assuring the quality of food being served
  • Ensure student accounts are being charged correctly
  • Works with minimal direction
  • Assists students with orderly food purchases, disposal of food waste, and return of trays and utensils
  • Point of sale clerking

Additional Duties:

  • Performs other related tasks as assigned
  • Removes garbage from the kitchen area.

Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards:

  • Works in standard school environment
  • Able to be on your feet for entire shift
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs

Qualifications Profile:
 Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful performance would be qualifying. 
Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:

  • Minimum of High School Degree or equivalent. 
  • Previous food handling experience preferred.
  • Serv Safe Certification preferred not required
  • Eagerness to work with children in fast pace setting.
  • Good kitchen skills

Experience:
Successful prior experience working in food service, preferably in a school district or with children. 

Schedule:
8:30 am – 2:00 pm
Monday – Friday
Works on student contact days

Wage:
$14.68 – $17.14 per hour
