Position: FLIGHT Paraeducator Program Assistant
Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 9:30AM – 6:00PM, 8 hours per day
Start Date:  ASAP
Pay: $23.14 per hour

Summary:
The F.L.I.G.H.T. Program Assistant is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of a F.L.I.G.H.T. Site. The F.L.I.G.H.T. Program Assistant plays a key role in ensuring that program participants have a supportive, interactive, and enriching program experience while ensuring the safety and security of all program participants.  This position will also support the Site Manager in managing the logistical aspects of the program and the documentation that is required for reporting purposes.
 
Preferred Qualifications:

  • College experience or Bachelor’s Degree in education, recreation, or other related fields is preferred.
  • Classroom/child care experience leading instructional programs in arts, science, technology, and/or recreation.
  • Have a strong expertise in a wide variety of techniques and strategies for working with students with behavioral and developmental challenges.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma
  • 4 years of experience working with school-age students
  • Willingness to explore and teach a variety of subject areas
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills  

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in planning and implementing a diversified program to include art, science, service learning, recreational activities and more.
  • Responsible for maintaining the safety standards to assure safety of all participants involved in the program.
  • Be the lead staff person in conjunction with site manager to deal with significant behavior issues and help resolve conflicts in a positive manner.
  • Utilize a wide variety of techniques and strategies for working with students with behavioral and developmental challenges.
  • Attend multiple trainings each year designed to strengthen their behavior management and relationship building skills when working with children.
  • Work with students with special needs and their families to ensure that individualized plans are in place to allow every child to be successful in Adventure Connection.
  • Overall responsibility under the direction of the site manager,  for the efficiency and quality of the program.  Ensure that the program physical space is properly set up for each day, and that all supplies and furniture are put up as needed at the conclusion of programming.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
