Job Summary: The Family Engagement Specialist will help design and implement strategies and procedures to authentically engage with BCCS families to ensure positive school community climate  and support the wellbeing and success of students. This position will work closely with many across the district including the Community Schools Site Coordinators to aid ISD 286 in implementing the key principles of the community schools Framework, including collaborative leadership, shared power and voice, culture of belonging, safety and care, and powerful student and family engagement as well as achieving its mission, vision, and goals.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

Coordinate high-quality family engagement, including outreach, home visits, advisory committees, educational opportunities, volunteer opportunities and more

In partnership with the Community Schools Manager, oversee the continuous quality improvement process for the district’s family engagement

Manage partnerships and with leaders and cultural representatives in the community 

Support the district’s volunteer opportunities

Partner with district staff, including teachers, administrators, and others to authentically engage families in support of their student’s learning experiences

Work closely with fellow community schools team members to ensure implementation of the community schools framework

Support district staff, including administrators as they implement family engagement strategies

Conduct data collection and entry

Manage program supply purchases

Other duties as assigned

Qualifications: 

  • Previous experience working with diverse populations and urban school settings preferred
  • Previous experience in secondary and postsecondary education preferred

Pay and Benefits: $23.10- $28.62/hr DOQ. Competitive Pay and Benefits following the Unaffiliated Non-Exempt Pay and Benefits Guide
Duty Days: 240 (11 months)
School Year Hours:  8:30am -4:30pm, weekends and nights as needed.
