POSITION:      FACILITES TECHNICIAN
LOCATION(S): MINNESOTA TRANSITIONS CHARTER SCHOOL (MTCS)
                         2872 26^th Avenue South
                         Minneapolis, MN 55406
 
 
Description:  The Facilities Technician is responsible for promptly and safely maintaining all MTCS buildings and assets.  Additional duties include maintenance of electrical components (including security systems), audio/video systems, basic plumbing and overall general building maintenance tasks.

Job Summary:
 

• Conduct daily walk throughs to assess conditions and prioritize workload
• Perform routine preventative maintenance tasks on all equipment
• Perform repairs on all equipment in a timely manner
• Perform basic repairs on plumbing, electrical and mechanical systems
• Maintain lighting, including ordering, replacing and recycling light bulbs
• Clean interior windows
• Track all repair and maintenance information
• Handle miscellaneous tasks as needed
• Request purchase orders as needed
• Hire outside contractors as needed for specialty projects
• Keep and update an inventory of all equipment, tools and supplies
• Communicate with property management companies as needed

Qualifications:

• Good mechanical aptitude, math and reading skills
• Problem solving and trouble shooting skills
• Ability to multitask and maintain deadlines for multiple projects including prioritizing competing tasks
• Physical ability to perform essential functions
• Able to lift 75 pounds

• Capable of working independently
• Excellent skills in maintaining relationships with building leadership, staff and students
• Good human relation skills, team player and professional demeanor
• Minnesota state drivers license

 
Miscellaneous:

• Reimbursement for mileage of personal vehicle will be reimbursed at the current IRS mileage rate with proper tracking data
• Purchase or rental of tools shall be determined on a as needed basis and will be reimbursed with proper receipts
• Ability to travel, using personal vehicle, between sites throughout the work day The duties of this position may change from time to time.

• Hourly wage determined by qualificaitons, range $22.00-$26.00
