Description
Job summary: Assist the Assistant Principal, Counselor, and Social Worker with instructional tasks, working directly and indirectly with students on prosocial and self regulation skills. These tasks will constitute a major portion of the Educational Support Professional’s time.
Responsibilities and tasks include:
- Using questioning and discussion strategies to engage, develop, and support scholars’ social-emotional, and behavior reasoning, critical thinking, reflection, and understanding; providing multiple methods of communicating learning.
- Engaging scholars in social-emotional, and behavior learning including goal-setting with scholars in collaboration with all staff, and daily monitoring of intervention plans; planning and providing activities and assignments with differentiated, effective and multiple opportunities to think, reflect, consolidate and demonstrate understanding; utilizing effective materials, resources, and structures designed to support engagement and learning; choosing materials and resources that are age, developmentally, equitability, and culturally appropriate; modifying pace and tasks based on scholar and staff performance; providing scholars multiple opportunities to be actively engaged.
- Teach, model, and implement conflict resolution strategies with students. Facilitate restorative conversations between students.
- Demonstrating flexibility and responsiveness to enhance learning; adjusting and differentiating services, support, and professional learning to address individual scholar needs and ensure scholars are successful; continually seeking ways to improve services, support and professional learning, making revisions in response to data, as needed; monitoring the use and impact of learning activities, materials, and resources.
- Respond to walkie calls to support student behavior needs as needed.
Minimum qualifications include:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Two years of higher education or passing of the ParaPro test preferred.
- Demonstrate ability to work with students.
- Computer and word processing experience helpful.
Salary: View Classification II (2) salary grid on page 4, section 2, and classification, page 5, section 2 on Educational Support Professional contract
Work schedule: 6 hours: 6 hrs/day Instructional (Behavior support ESP)
