SUMMARY:
Under the guidance of the Enrichment Supervisor, the Gatewood Enrichment Leader will assist with the coordination and implementation of afterschool enrichment programs at Gatewood Elementary and provide additional support and supervision of elementary students participating in these programs.
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Assist with the organization of students during the busy school dismissal time process. 
  • Coordinate with instructors, community ed youth programs teams, and building administrative teams on program logistics like class rosters, attendance, and transportation. Provide positive proactive communication.
  • Operate a district vehicle and safely transport students to and from district locations
  • Perform daily pre-trip inspections accurately reporting any defects of district vehicles
  • Maintain a disciplined and safe environment on the district vehicle and during student loading and unloading.
  • Create and maintain a safe and welcoming environment that promotes and serves the needs of children and families. 
  • Work with students to develop skills and explore interests in a wide variety of enrichment classes. Support and promote students’ social, cognitive, and emotional development.
  • Assist each student with integrating and participating in group and program activities. Provide additional support and encouragement when needed by students.
  • Maintain timely and professional communication with parents, team members, and Hopkins colleagues.
  • Must be available to work Monday through Friday, 1:30pm to 4:00 pm while school is in session. 
  • Follow up on any students who did not show up for scheduled activities and were not marked absent.
  • Be available to talk with parents, answer the phone, or deal with any issues that may arise with students and teachers during extended day activities.
  • Develop recruitment and retention strategies for student participation in the program.
  • Assist with research of program development, innovation, and best practices.
  • Attend meetings as required and as appropriate.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Enrichment Supervisor.

 
QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
 
Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.
  • Two years of experience coordinating youth and family programs, which includes supervising program activities, staff, and working with diverse populations.

 
Required Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:
Continued employment is contingent upon all required licenses and certificates being maintained in active status without suspension or revocation.

  • Valid Driver’s license, required.
  • First Aid/CPR Certification.

 
Required Knowledge and Skills:
Required Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of behavioral management practices and fundamentals.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Implementing and supporting site activities in accordance with program themes, building initiatives, and academic subject activities.
  • Records keeping and records management.

 
Required Skills:

  • Leadership skills in providing staff coordination and assisting with the tailoring of programs to meet the needs of students and their families.
  • Interact with children, staff, parents, administrators, and building personnel concerning issues and activities. Interactions require the explanation of program operational rules and working with others to gain cooperation and understanding of educational issues/needs.
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to create professional flyers and communications to promote programs. 
  • Ability to work with a variety of staff including clerks, teachers, custodians, administrators, instructors and other support staff.
  • Computer applications related to the work.
  • Ability to obtain District vehicle certification
  • Must be willing and able to work/drive in inclement weather and noisy situations

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

  • The work location will be Gatewood Elementary and transporting students from Glen Lake Elementary, assignment may include other locations in the community, including school buildings and outdoors.

 
FTE: 8 hours per week. 
Salary: $17.54 – $24.34, DOE.
