HOPE Community Academy is an accredited, public co-educational charter school comprised of primary, intermediate, middle school, and high school levels. We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Speech / Language Pathologist to join our elementary school team on a part-time basis, working three days per week. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive speech and language services to elementary students, supporting their communication and language development needs. This position offers an opportunity to make a positive impact on the academic and social-emotional growth of our students.

Primary duties: (These duties are a representative sample; position assignments may vary.)

  • Conduct assessments to evaluate students' speech and language capabilities and develop personalized intervention plans.
  • Provide individual and group therapy sessions to address speech and language disorders, articulation difficulties, fluency issues, and other communication challenges.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other school staff to implement effective communication strategies and support students' academic success.
  •  Monitor and track student progress, adjust intervention plans as needed, and maintain accurate documentation of therapy sessions and outcomes.
  •  Participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings and contribute to the development of goals and objectives for students with speech and language needs.
  •  Deliver engaging and interactive therapy activities that promote language enrichment, phonological awareness, vocabulary development, and pragmatic skills.

Professional Accountabilities:

  •  Stay current on best practices in the field of speech-language pathology and continue professional development through training opportunities and workshops.
  • Uphold ethical standards and confidentiality guidelines in all interactions with students, families, and colleagues.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
  • Valid state license or certification in Speech-Language Pathology.
  • ASHA Certification of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) preferred.
  • Experience working with elementary-age students in a school setting is advantageous.
  • Strong communication skills, empathy, and patience when working with students with diverse communication needs.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and demonstrate a commitment to student success.
  • Proficiency in conducting evaluations, designing intervention plans, and implementing evidence-based therapy techniques.

Working Environment:

  • Duties are normally performed in a school/classroom environment; school building is a multi-level building that has an elevator and is accessible
  • Position requires extensive interaction with children of all ages
  • Duties may occasionally be performed on field trips away from school
  • Duties may occasionally be performed in outdoor environments, such as athletic fields or playgrounds
  • Duties may occasionally be performed in varying weather conditions, such as hot or cold weather.
  • Possible exposure to loud and noisy locations (e.g. loud classrooms or cafeterias; children speaking or laughing loudly).
