Elementary Paraprofessional
Paynesville Area Schools is in search of Elementary Paraprofessionals to join our team for the 2024-2025 school year to serve Special Education.
JOB SUMMARY:
To assist teachers in providing curriculum support to students with behavioral and/or learning disorders, students performing below their grade level to maximize their academic success; and to assist special need
students with mobility, self-care, communication and social interaction needs to maximize participation in classroom activities.Â

Physical Involvement:
A. Position requires prolonged position in any combination of body postures, such as squatting, stooping, bending (both sitting and standing), kneeling, or sitting on the floor while performing student care, classroom activities, or transfers.
B. Position may occasionally exert in excess of 50 lbs. during diapering, removal or physical restraint of students.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Â
Education:
-
High school degree or equivalent.
-
AA degree or demonstrate competencies under the Federal guidelines.
Â
Experience:
-
Prior experience within an educational system or working with children preferred butÂ
 not required.     Â

Special Knowledge or Skills:Â
A. Ability to work effectively with students of all grade levels in a positive manner.
B. Ability and willingness to work with special need students.
C. Ability to communicate effectively.
D. Ability to read and understand directions.
E. Have basic math and language skills.
F. Have basic computer skills.Â
G. CPR, First Aid, and Crisis Prevention Intervention training preferred.
