Key Responsibilities:

Counseling Services:
-
Provide individual and group counseling to students to address academic, social, emotional, and behavioral concerns.

Support and implement interventions tailored to the needs of general education and special education students.

Collaboration:
-
Work closely with teachers, administrators, and special education staff to identify and support students’ needs.
-
Collaborate with families to provide resources and support, facilitating communication between home and school.
-

Crisis Intervention:
-
Respond to and manage crisis situations involving students, providing immediate support and resources.
-
Develop and implement crisis management plans as needed.
-

Program Development:
-
Design and implement school-wide programs and activities that promote social-emotional learning and positive behavior.

Organize workshops and presentations for students and parents on relevant topics such as conflict resolution, bullying prevention, and emotional regulation.

Assessment and Evaluation:
-
Assist in the assessment process for special education services and provide input on individual education plans (IEPs).
-
Monitor student progress and effectiveness of counseling interventions, adjusting strategies as necessary.

Professional Development:
-
Stay current with best practices in school counseling, special education, and child development through ongoing professional development.
-
Provide training and support to staff on social-emotional learning and behavioral strategies.

Qualifications:
-
Valid state certification/licensure.
-
Experience working with elementary-aged children, preferably in both general and special education settings.

Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
-
Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
Skills:
-
Knowledge of developmental stages and social-emotional needs of elementary students.

Familiarity with special education laws, IEP development, and accommodations.

Strong conflict resolution and crisis intervention skills.
-
Ability to create a safe and supportive counseling environment.
Physical Requirements:
-
Ability to perform the essential functions of the job, which may include sitting, lifting heavy objects, standing, and moving throughout the school environment.
