Elementary 4th Grade Teacher(Spanish: Math/Science)

Job Summary:

At Aurora Charter School, we believe our greatest resource is the people who form our team.   The Elementary 4th Grade Teacher (Spanish: Math/Science)  under the supervision of the principal is responsible for fostering a dual-language classroom environment that ensures the learning and personal growth of every student; motivating students to become bilingual/biliterate leaders, develope critical thinking skills, and become environmental stewards. 


  • Teachers must be committed to preserving the mission, vision, and student success profile of the school.¬†

  • Create and maintain effective environments for student learning.

  • Plan instruction and design differentiated learning experiences for a range of needs and abilities utilizing MN standards for Math and Science.¬†

  • Use formative and summative assessments of student learning to drive instruction.

  • Collect and analyze student data to improve the school-wide instructional program.¬†

  • Collaborate with instructional coaches, students, and families to support the academic and social development of students.¬†

  • Communicate and actively build a strong relationship with students and parents/guardians on a regular basis, including leading parent conferences.

  • Continually support student behavior with systems for feedback, reflection, and growth, as supported by our PBIS, implemented program.¬†¬†

  • Attend IEP and 504 meetings as required for your students.¬†

  • Maintains professional competence by attending staff development programs, curriculum development meetings, and other professional activities.¬†

  • Participates in various student and parent activities which occur in school including curriculum nights, and school events.¬†

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities: 

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish), possess an Academic or fluent¬† Spanish level

  • Knowledge of subjects taught, instructional methods/strategies, and curriculum differentiation in target languages¬†¬†

  • Knowledge of child development, learning, and behavior¬†¬†

  • Able to manage student behavior in a classroom setting¬†¬†

  • Able to communicate effectively in both written and verbal form in both targeted languages¬†

  • Able to work well with others in the school community¬†¬†

  • Skilled in handling multiple tasks simultaneously¬†¬†

  • Skilled in pacing and differentiating instruction¬†¬†

  • Skilled in motivating and engaging students in the learning process¬†¬†

  • Skilled in organizing and relating information in an understandable format¬†¬†

  • Skilled in job appropriate technology¬†¬†

  • Skilled in critical thinking and planning

Education and Experience:

  • A valid Minnesota teaching license in Elementary Education or have the ability to obtain one. Bilingual/bicultural endorsement is a plus.

  • Must be proficient in Academic or fluent Spanish

  • Must be 18 years or older at the time of employment, must possess a valid Minnesota Driver‚Äôs License or state identification, must satisfactorily pass a criminal background check, and must comply with organizational and district policies.¬†¬†

Physical Requirements: 

  • Required to lift or carry classroom supplies, textbooks, furniture, and equipment to a minimum of 35 pounds.¬†¬†

  • Required to sit, stand, bend, stoop, reach, grab, pull, hear, see, and speak on a daily basis.

  • Required to perform repetitive physical tasks such as computer keyboarding, writing, and reading
