Preschool Educational Assistant / Tiger Kids Club Program Lead

Delano Community Education has an immediate full-time opening for a combined preschool educational assistant and childcare program lead in our program.

Schedule/Location:

  • Position located at the Delano Community Education Center, 140 Elm Ave E, Delano, MN.
  • Full time, 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday. This includes wrap-around preschool and school age care programming during the school year.
  • Programming hours are 6:45 am – 5:45 pm, shifts will fall within that time frame, 7am-3pm or 10am-6pm.
  • This is a 12 month – year round position.

Program Information:

  • DPS Preschool has a strong play-based focus on preparing children for kindergarten using Creative Curriculum.
  • DPS Preschool has a strong partnership with our elementary school, aligning curriculum and training to fit a P-3 grade model.
  • DPS Preschool and Tiger Kids Club partner to provide children a cohesive full day of preschool and wrap around care.
  • Tiger Kids Club serves children ages preschool through 6th grade, with a strong play philosophy, meeting the child where they are at developmentally and helping them grow into independent individuals.

  Responsibilities:

  • Assist lead teacher in planning and implementing daily activities, aligned to the mission of the preschool program.
  • Lead a classroom of up to 18 students; classroom openings are for preschool or Kindergarten
  • Effectively communicate and build relationships with families and colleagues
  • Have strong relationship building skills with all children
  • Provide enriching opportunities which contribute to children’s overall growth and development
  • Maintain an inviting, well organized classroom, aligned to the goals of DPS Preschool and Tiger Kids Club
  • Ensure a safe and secure classroom, with attention to the overall environment
  • Mentor and provide direction to high school aides
  • Work closely with a team to provide quality care that is cohesive across all classrooms, times of day, and sessions
  • Other duties as assigned  

Qualifications:

  • 1 or more years of relevant experience preferred, but not required
  • Licensure in early childhood, k-6, or other related field preferred, but not required
  • Knowledgeable in child development and developmentally appropriate best practice in early childhood and school age care
  • Warm and welcoming demeanor
  • Self-directed, highly motivated individuals who are passionate about children and providing quality learning experiences   

Salary/Benefits:

  • Salary range of $14.66-$23.72 (2022-24 handbook). Full benefits included. Step placement will be based on experience.
