Hours/Day: 172
Days/Year:Â 37.5Â hours/week; 7.5 hours/day
Compensation: Level 3, Step 3-5 $18.35-$22.15

Description:Â Â We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Educational Assistant to provide behavior support for elementary-aged students in our general education population, Monday – Friday 8:45 AM – 4:10 PM. This role requires a compassionate individual who can work proactively with students to promote positive behavior and respond quickly to address immediate behavioral challenges. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with staff, demonstrate excellent communication and problem-solving skills, and support a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:

Scheduled Support:
- Work with individual students or small groups to implement behavior management strategies and promote positive behavior during scheduled support times.
- Collaborate with teachers to prepare and implement behavior support plans and strategies aligned with classroom needs.

Crisis Response:
- Respond promptly to situations where students are disregulated or in need of immediate behavior support.
- De-escalate challenging behaviors using established school protocols and restorative practices.

Behavior Intervention:
- Assist in implementing individualized behavior intervention plans (BIPs) and monitor student progress.
- Reinforce positive behavior through rewards, encouragement, and constructive feedback.

Team Collaboration:
- Actively participate in meetings with teachers, counselors, and other support staff to develop and adjust behavior strategies for students.
- Provide feedback on student progress and behavior to relevant team members.

Classroom Support:
- Support classroom management by assisting teachers with student supervision and ensuring a productive learning environment.
- Encourage students to follow classroom expectations and model Respect, Responsibility, and Safety (RRS).

Documentation:
- Maintain accurate records of behavioral incidents, interventions, and outcomes.
- Report behavior-related concerns to appropriate school personnel promptly.

Professional Development:
- Participate in training sessions related to behavior management, crisis intervention, and other relevant topics.
- Stay informed about best practices in supporting students with behavior challenges.
Qualifications:
- Need to be highly qualified standards as defined by the State of Minnesota.
- Experience working with elementary-aged students in a behavior management capacity.
- Strong understanding of child development and behavior management techniques.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with students, staff, and families.
- Ability to remain calm and handle challenging situations with professionalism and empathy.
- Innovative thinking to develop and adapt strategies that meet diverse student needs.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe, respectful, and inclusive school environment.
- Reliability and consistent attendance are required for success in this role.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to move quickly across the school campus to respond to urgent behavior needs.
- Capacity to lift or support students as needed, following safety protocols.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a school or similar setting providing behavior support.
- Training or certification in behavior management, crisis intervention, or restorative practices.
