Position Title: Early Childhood Educational Assistant, Special Education
Primary Location: Washington Kosciusko Early Childhood
Assignment Specifications: 6.5 hours per school day, 2024-25 School Year
Group Affiliation/Policy: Educational Assistants
Classification: B-2-2
Hiring Range: $19.03-$20.43 per hour
Exempt Status: Non-Exempt
 
Responsibilities: Under the administrative direction of the Building Principal and under the direct supervision of certified personnel, the Educational Assistant is an integral part of the educational team because of support provided to maximize instructional time. Duties assigned may include: monitoring and escorting students, record keeping, charting monthly activity logs, material preparation, reinforcement  of previously taught lessons, and restraints when called for as per an Individual Education Plan (IEP) or student care plan. The educational assistant does not have responsibility for making decisions about any aspect of a student’s educational program; rather they are responsible for carrying out directives as provided by the certified personnel or Building Administration. 
 
Qualifications: Minimum of high school level academic skills. Must have demonstrated skills or experience in supervising student behavior and applying consistent consequences for appropriate and inappropriate behaviors, including appropriate physical restraint; adapting lesson plans to the individual needs of students to facilitate their learning and to assist them in meeting any individual learning plans and objectives; applying rules, instructions and stated policies, procedures and IEP plans; developing a rapport with children and explaining concepts in a simple and understandable manner; using basic office equipment; effectively presenting information in 1:1 and/or small group situation to students concerning district/program routines, policies, rules, learning principles, concepts and other lesson plans.
