Early Childhood Preschool Teacher 

Description:
Looking for someone who is passionate and knowledgeable about early learning. This teacher will work with 4-year-old preschoolers and be part of a strong early learning team responsive to the needs of children and families in ISD 199. This position is at Salem Hills Elementary, Mon-Fri 7:15am-12:00pm teaching an AM pre-kindergarten class, with additional hours for team meetings and professional development. 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in early childhood education or related field
  • Minnesota teaching license in Early Childhood 
  • Ability to build caring, respectful, and supportive relationships with students and families
  • Is inspired and challenged by active reflection and on-going learning to improve practice
  • Understands early childhood with focus on whole child development
  • Ability to work collaboratively to build an effective team that shares responsibility, accountability, and accomplishments

Responsibilities:
Curriculum and Instruction:

  • Demonstrate solid content knowledge and pedagogical practices that reflect current research and best practices.
  • Implement preschool curriculum and create instructional goals that are connected to standards, are measurable, and establish high expectations.
  • Create and maintain a classroom environment that promotes caring and respect, is conducive to effective learning and meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.
  • Assess student progress through both formative and summative assessments and adjust student instruction accordingly.
  • Use collaborative inquiry with data analysis to respond with flexible, equitable, and strategic instruction
  • Utilize effective communication and interpersonal skills to build strong relationships and be responsive to all participants in the program
  • Create and maintain safe, welcoming and developmentally appropriate learning environments in a variety of settings
  • Support parents in understanding and implementing strategies to develop their child’s growth and lead to a successful transition to kindergarten
  • Recognize and be able to articulate the unique strengths of each student
  • Display accurate knowledge of diverse cultures and consistently demonstrate understanding of cultural influences on child development and learning
  • Adapt curriculum to reflect multicultural content and perspectives
  • Collaborate with other district early learning programs to ensure all students and families receive support and intervention as needed
  • Experience with inclusive classrooms a plus 

 Professional Responsibilities:

  • Establish and maintain effective and professional relationships with peers, students and families
  • Provide work direction and classroom supervision for classroom paraprofessional
  • Collaborate with others to improve professional practice and student learning, including participation in professional learning communities
  • Organize, maintain and submit all records and data as required by law, district policy or administrative regulation  
  • Demonstrate effective written and oral communication that displays cultural sensitivity
  • Display positive leadership and make substantial contributions at both the building and district level on projects, initiatives, and curriculum improvement
  • Seek out professional development opportunities and apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional program
  • Care for district resources, equipment, and materials assigned to him/her and report concerns regarding facility and equipment to designated supervisor
  • Be knowledgeable of and adhere to all procedures and practices prescribed in the Teacher, Student, and/or Parent Handbooks
  • Understand and practice School Board policies and adhere to federal and state laws that apply to job assignment
  • Provide direction and supervision for all school activities to which he/she is assigned.
  • Perform all other duties and responsibilities as assigned by their supervisor or district administrator

 
Pay and Benefits:
Inver Grove Heights Community Schools offers a competitive and comprehensive preschool teacher salary $49,199.85 to $52,801.53 depending on experience and benefit package.
