Position: Early Childhood and Family Education Teacher (ECFE) 
Work Schedule:  25-30 hrs per week
Start Date: 08-26-2024
Pay and Benefits:  Pay and benefits are in accordance with the teacher labor agreement for ECFE https://www.isd622.org/about/human-resources

Required Qualifications:

  • Valid MN teaching license in Birth to 3rd Grade, PreKindergarten or Parent and Family Education.
  • Must demonstrate continued professional development through coursework, research and peer collaboration.
  • Considerable knowledge of the core curriculum areas the teacher is responsible for instructing.
  • Considerable knowledge of educational philosophy, teaching methods and approaches, current researched best practices and strategies.
  • Considerable knowledge of students’ learning styles and needs, both academic and affective.
  • Considerable knowledge of multicultural, gender and disability fair curriculum concepts.
  • Considerable knowledge of classroom management techniques.
  • Working knowledge of instructional technologies.
  • Considerable skill in classroom presentation.
  • Considerable skill in classroom management and organization.
  • Working skill in maintaining records and developing reports.
  • Considerable ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Considerable ability to plan and implement lessons based upon district and school goals and objectives and the needs and abilities of students to whom assigned.
  • Considerable ability to adapt teaching styles to diverse student populations.
  • Considerable ability to interact effectively with students, parents, other school staff, administration and community members of diverse ethnic/racial and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Considerable ability to evaluate student performance and to present these evaluations in a manner that fosters higher student achievement.
  • Considerable ability to work in a cooperative learning environment.
  • Working ability to utilize computer and multimedia technology as appropriate.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Develops lesson plans and instructional materials which are developmentally appropriate and provides individualized and small group instruction to adapt the District approved curriculum to the needs of each student.
  • Evaluates students academic and social-emotional growth, keeps appropriate records in a timely fashion and prepares progress reports.
  • Collaborates in identifying student needs and makes appropriate referrals as needed. Collaborates with the  ECSE team with implementing individualized education plans as needed in the classroom. 
  • Maintains a professional day, as defined by building/and contract. • Communicates regularly with parents outside normal classroom day by means of newsletters, phone calls, e-mails, conferences, etc. 
  • Works in a supportive and collaborative manner with colleagues and supervisors. 
  • Maintains and improves professional skills by participating in building and department meetings, formal coursework, workshops, and seminars in an effort to stay current with best teaching practices. 
  • Participates in a professional learning community on a regular basis.
  • Integration of technology into instruction. 
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 35 pounds.

 Specific Responsibilities: 

  • Collaborative work in a fast-paced environment interacting with students, staff, administrators, parents, and the community with multiple requests and concerns. 
  • Support and communicate with other administrators and staff. 
  • Respond in emergency situations. 
  • Know, interpret, and follow school District policies. 
  • May provide input to the goal-setting process for paraprofessionals.

Knowledge and Skills: 

  • Demonstrated ability to apply appropriate skills in performing daily routines. 
  • Demonstrated ability to operate a computer, software and necessary classroom technology. 
  • Ability to develop effective and positive working relationships with students, staff, administrators, parents, and the community.
  • Maintain professional composure while dealing with a variety of personalities and situations. 
  • Show initiative and function as a self-starter. 
  • Effectively communicate and have interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, and the general public
