Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Superintendent, the Director of Teaching & Learning will lead the planning, development, implementation, and ongoing evaluation of the District’s curriculum, instruction, professional development, student assessment, and state / federal academic programs. The Director is responsible for ensuring that the District's academic objectives align with the Board’s strategic vision, state / federal standards, and best practices in both instruction and professional development in order to produce the best possible outcomes for our students, families, and community. Education and Certification:
- Required: Administrative license issued by the State of Minnesota or current enrollment in licensure program.
- Required: Teaching license issued by the State of Minnesota.
- Required: Valid Minnesota driver’s license and the ability to drive between District buildings.
- Preferred: Advanced degree in Education.
Experience:
- Required: Five or more years of experience in an educational setting.
- Preferred: Experience with change management best practices.
- Preferred: Experience with school budget preparation and administration.
- Preferred: Extensive knowledge of applicable grants and required reporting.
Supervision of Other Employees:
- Position has direct and indirect supervisory responsibility for licensed and/or non-licensed staff members.
Essential Skills:
- Establishes a culture for learning by supporting the mission, beliefs, and the strategic plan of the district.
- Ability to analyze, interpret, compare and present data using a wide range of mediums.
- Ability to communicate effectively – verbally, non-verbally, and in writing – with students, parents, teachers, administrators, community, and staff.
- Knowledgeable about best practice in curriculum and instruction as well as emerging practices.
- Knowledge of Minnesota Academic Standards, federal Title programs, and ESSA mandates.
- Ability to demonstrate professionalism and ethical practices.
- Ability to exercise confidentiality in handling student and/or District information.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to work with a diverse population of students/families.
