Rockford Middle School: Center for Environmental Studies (RMS-CES) is a vibrant and inclusive educational community committed to providing exceptional learning opportunities for all students. We are looking for a compassionate Middle School Special Education Teacher with a focus on serving students with Developmental Cognitive Disabilities (DCD) and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The ideal candidate will have an understanding of the unique learning needs of students with DCD/ASD and demonstrate the ability to create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment.

Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) in collaboration with the IEP team and other stakeholders.

Provide differentiated instruction and support to meet the diverse academic, social/emotional and functional needs of students.

Create and maintain a positive and supportive classroom environment conducive to learning and growth.

Utilize evidence-based practices and instructional strategies tailored to the needs of studentsÂ

Collaborate with general education teachers and paraprofessionals to ensure accommodations and modifications are being implemented through lessons, activities, assignments, and tests.

Monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies as needed to facilitate growth and achievement.

Provide clear direction and responsibilities to paraprofessionals

Foster a culture of respect, understanding, and acceptance among students, promoting empathy and inclusivity.

Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, parents/guardians, and colleagues.

Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting the unique needs of students with disabilities.
