Job Summary:  The Intervention Specialist teacher supports school staff and students in the implementation and evaluation of a multi-tiered system of support (MTSS) in academics and behavior.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  

  1. Interpret building and district assessment data to drive instruction that addresses student learning needs.
  2. Understand and implement a multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS) for academics and behavior.
  3. Support the use effective intervention strategies.
  4. Meet regularly with intervention specialists to ensure consistency of the MTSS implementation.
  5. Remain current with research and best practices in MTSS and evidence-based instruction through professional readings, trainings, workshop attendance and other methods, as appropriate.
  6. Provide district leadership to support staff.

Qualifications:

  1. Must hold valid Minnesota teaching license.                                                                                  
  2. K-12 Reading License preferred.                                      
  3. 5 or more years of teaching experience.                                                                         
  4. Experience with Multi-tiered System of Supports and the problem-solving process.                           
  5. Knowledgeable about current research and best practices in MTSS and PLCs.                                             
  6. Skilled in application of research-based and best practice interventions academics and behavior.             
  7. Effective communication skills and ability work collaboratively with students, school personnel, and parents.
  8. Skilled in the use of a variety of technology tools and programs including Microsoft Office and google applications, data warehouses such as FASTBridge, Alpine, and other instructional management systems.
