POSITION SUMMARY:
The District and Assessment Specialist oversees and manages all aspects of our assessment framework. This role includes the coordination, preparation, training, administration, security, correction, verification, reporting, and analysis of various assessments. The coordinator ensures equitable assessments across all student groups, monitors student performance, and supports district-wide accountability and progress. This position is critical in ensuring the district’s assessments are conducted with the highest standards of integrity, accuracy, and equity, ultimately supporting the academic success and growth of all students.

- Salary: $90,000 – $100,0000 depending on qualifications (prorated to start date.)
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The essential functions of this position may include, but are not limited to, the following fundamental duties:
- Oversees all aspects of technical test coordination for all levels of standardized testing throughout the district, including preparation, training, administration, security, corrections and verification, reporting, and analysis. Monitors student performance to ensure equitable assessments of students. Assessments include, but are not limited to: Minnesota Comprehensive Assessments (MCA), MTAS, ACCESS, ACT, CogAT, Bilingual Seals and FastBridge;
- Coordinates and supervises state and federal accountability assessment requirements;
- Support the creation, administration and collection of the Daily Desired Experience Survey
- Represents the district assessment interests to Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) and the Metropolitan Assessment Group (MAG) and learned information back to district leadership.
- Assist with leading changes to assessment practices that align with district goals and state legislation.
- Design and conduct assessment in-services and “data digs/in-service” to assist instructional administration and staff in using assessment results and other data to improve achievement, identify students who need additional support and organizational performance.
- Design and conduct assessment in-services to assist administration and staff in the processes and procedures of the administration of district assessments.
- Collaborates with the special education and English Language Learner leadership to support assessment and progress monitoring for special education and English Language Learner students.
- Assist in supporting assessment strategies for students to demonstrate learning in multiple ways, providing feedback and measuring students’ progress against proficiency scales and common assessments.
- Collaborate with the Instructional Data Support Specialists (instructional coaches), Learning Specialists, Technology, Student Services, and Teaching and Learning to determine professional development opportunities for staff.
- Assist with the maintenance of data warehouses and data systems. (i.e. eduClimber, Data Visualizations, etc.)
- Support the assessment reporting process, including preparation of annual reports, presentations to buildings’ staff, presentations to the community, and updates to the district website in collaboration with the MTSS Coordinator
- Create and update assessment information on the district website.
- Establish and maintain equitable assessment practices for students including equitable access, equitable assessment administration, and just use of student data.
- Encourage assessment practices that are inclusive of all learners.
- Use assessment data to critically examine gaps and inequities.
- Use assessment to advance the pursuit of equity for students.
- Assist with the identification of students in need of gifted and learning acceleration and placement into programming and interventions.
- Assist with retrieving data for program evaluations and data requests when appropriate.
- Create the TDE goals summary

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Proven experience in educational assessment coordination, assessment-driven and data-driven instruction.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in educational equity
- Previous job-embedded coaching experience.
- Strong understanding of standardized testing protocols and requirements.
- Excellent data analysis and reporting skills.
- Effective communication and collaboration abilities.
- Commitment to equitable and inclusive assessment practices.
- Proficiency with educational data systems and technology tools.
- Demonstrated strength in organization and efficiency in meeting deadlines
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS (Specific training or job experience required before appointment):
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university
- Current Minnesota Teaching License
- Minimum of three years of successful teaching experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Advanced Degree, Administrative License
