Custodian – Night Shift

Description: Delano Public Schools has an opening for an experienced full-time custodian to work the evening shift. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Performing preventative maintenance.
• Ability to diagnose mechanical issues and correcting them.
• Repairing machines, equipment, or structures as necessary.
• Inspects the building, grounds, and equipment.
• Handles necessary repairs and maintenance.
• Installs equipment and appliances.
• Follows local and state building codes.
• Complies with all company safety regulations.
• Keeps a maintenance log and writes shift reports.
• Reports any issues to the Night Lead or Head Custodian.
• Responds to repair and maintenance requests in a timely fashion.
• Loads and unloads equipment and tools into work vehicles if needed.
• Follows written and verbal instructions from the Head Custodian and Night Lead.
• Reads and follows manuals, and other written instructions.
• Uses equipment, including power tools, hand tools, electric tools, and plumbing tools.
• Strong mechanical aptitude.
• Snow removal if needed.

Requirements:

• Current Boiler Engineer License or willingness to obtain within first 4 months of employment.
• Considerable physical activity. Requires heavy physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects up to 50 pounds. Physical work is a primary part (more than 70%) of job.
• Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
• Work may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.

Hours: Full-time, Monday – Friday, 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM, Flexible summer hours (40 hours per week).
