WORK SCHEDULE: Full-time, year round position; 8 hours per day; 2:30 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.

CLASSIFICATION: B-2-1

SALARY: $21.92 per hour (entry level – base rate) plus an additional rate based upon licenses held.

Essential Functions:

  • Complies with all School District and OSHA policies.
  • The Custodian II takes charge of the Custodian Leads responsibilities when the Custodian Lead is not on site.
  • Makes minor repairs on building, building equipment and grounds as directed.
  • Completes all duties listed on the daily schedule and maintains daily upkeep of assigned area and equipment.
  • Performs janitorial duties, and completes assigned daily cleaning area.
  • Organizes and cleans assigned custodial closet.
  • Ensures building and property is secure during shift and reports incidents and hazardous conditions to Custodial Lead.
  • Operates motorized equipment used for cleaning and snow removal.
  • Removal of snow/ice and application of snow melt around the building to insure safety.
  • Performs a variety of cleaning and semi-skilled duties which includes but is not limited to: vacuuming, mopping, washing tables, windows, bathrooms, dusting, waxing, stripping floors, moving heavy furniture, etc.
  • Moves up to 50 pounds of project materials and/or tools to remote building locations.
  • Stand on ladders, and platforms lifts at heights up to 30 feet for extended periods of time.
  • Performs essential maintenance to the facility or equipment which may involve, but not limited to the following activities: reaching, crouching; kneeling; shoveling; working in narrow and/or confining spaces: underground, overhead, and at ground level; twisting of the waist, shoulders, and legs; and lying on stomach and/or back.
  • Works under the supervision of the Lead Custodian, Building Principal, site Supervisor and the Coordinator of Facility Services.
  • Performs other duties within the level of responsibility assigned by the supervisors.

                                               
License Requirement:

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Special Boilers Operator License Preferred, not required.
  • Minnesota Driver’s License.

Required Skills:

  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision
  • Exceptional customer services skills
  • Excellent communication skills are required
  • Ability to work effectively with others and utilize effective team-building skills
  • Knowledge of cleaning methods and use of industrial cleaning equipment
  • Knowledge of safe use of cleaning chemicals, PPE and disposal of chemical liquids
  • Basic understanding of the upkeep, care and safe operation of motorized equipment used for cleaning i.e. auto scrubber, buffer, snow blower, tractor, genie lift, pressure washer, extractors, sweeper, Kaivac, etc.
  • Able and willing to use a backpack vacuum for cleaning is required
  • Able and willing to remove snow when required during day and night or on weekends
  • Willingness to learn and share new and better methods of cleaning with supervisors
  • Able and willing to cover lead position for sick or vacation days

 
Physical requirements: 
Stooping, bending, occasional awkward positions. Must be able to lift over 50 lbs., 80 lbs. assisted.
Ability to work in moderately hazardous conditions in outdoor environments and within buildings
Moves up to 50 pounds of project materials and/or tools to remote building locations.
Erect and stand on scaffolding, ladders, and platforms lifts, at heights up to 30 feet for extended periods of time.
