Park Rapids Schools is seeking a Full-time, year round, Custodian for the 2023-2024 school year. This shift will be 3pm – 11:30pm at the Park Rapids Century School during the school year, 6:30am – 3pm in the summer time with the flexibility to adjust hours. Candidates should have the ability to work in a team environment, as well as excellent verbal and written communication skills. Job Summary: Under the direction of the Facilities Supervisor, the Custodian performs environmental service tasks, cleaning and maintenance of school buildings, minor mechanical repairs, and support services for day and evening school activities. This position assists in providing a safe, clean learning environment for students, staff, and faculty.
Section II: Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Tasks involved in fulfilling above duty/responsibility:
- Assists with storage duties and setting up for events
- Assists in freight unloads and placements.
- Removes trash from buildings
- Sets up and takes down bleachers, tables and chairs for various events.
- Performs cleaning duties
- Scrubs and cleans fixtures including toilets, mirrors, wash basins, urinals, commodes, etc.
- Sanitizes and cleans drinking fountains
- Dusts furniture, walls, window sills and other woodwork; clean windows.
- Maintains supplies
- Maintains and fills tissue and towel dispensers.
- Maintains soap and sanitizer dispensers in restrooms and classrooms.
- Performs upkeep of floors
- Sweeps, strips, buffs, waxes or dust mops assigned areas.
- Cleans carpet using maintenance machinery.
- Examine facilities on a regular basis, monitoring for maintenance repair and safety needs.
- Maintain clean and unobstructed entryways, hallways, and sidewalks during shift.
- Responsible for safe condition of swimming pool, performing water tests, cleaning filters and refilling the pool as necessary, but only when applicable licensure allows the assignment of these duties.
- Prepare & monitor building premises for various activities and events occurring in the building. Assist participants with resolving their issues and needs.
- Assist with maintenance and cleaning of boiler, monitoring boiler pressures and temperatures daily, when applicable licensure allows this assignment.
- Performs other duties of a comparable level/type, as needed.

2nd year graduate level
Required Work Experience in Addition to Formal Education/Training:
Experience with vacuum cleaners of various types, carpet extractors, sweepers, floor scrubber- both manual and riding, burnishers, cleaning chemical and disinfectants are desired.
License/Certification
