Custodial Long Term Substitute

Monday – Friday: Flexible 6-8 hours/day

Responsible to:  HS/MS Day Lead Mechanical Engineer, Night Lead, Buildings and Grounds Supervisor and Principals.

Position Purpose:  Position responsible for building and grounds maintenance and cleanliness which provides a healthy, safe and attractive appearance and environment.
Job Objective:  Performs responsible general custodial work in the care and cleaning of school buildings; does related work as required.  Work is performed under the general supervision of the night lead custodian. 
Responsibilities:

1. Sweeps, vacuums, cleans, mops assigned areas.
2. Scrubs and cleans toilets including mirrors, wash basins, urinals, commodes, slop sinks, etc.; fills tissue, towel and soap dispensers.
3. Sanitizes and cleans drinking fountains.
4. Performs minor repairs; replaces light bulbs, attends to jammed lockers.
5. Checks schedule and sets up for athletic, school events, and community events when needed.
6. Assists in gymnasium when athletic events are in progress.
7. Communicate effectively using telephone, radio, and email in addition to in-person communication.
8. Cleans specified area after special events.
9. Shovels sidewalks using de-icer when needed.
10. Turns off lights, locks doors to rooms.
11. Performs building check and locks doors.
12. Use Web based work order system to complete tasks.  Checkfor teacher generated ones daily.  If work is initiated by custodians please create a new work order for that task
13. Basic understanding and ability using computers and technology
14. Handles basic building repairs and troubleshooting, e.g. plumbing, HVAC, electrical, doors, furniture.
15. Performs other duties as assigned.
