General Definition of Work
Performs intermediate human support work monitoring students’ academic and behaviors, providing supervision, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the direction of the assigned classroom teacher with limited supervision of the Principal.Â

Essential Functions
Assists students with class work/academics throughout the day (math, spelling, reading etc.) as directed by teacher.
Needs to be familiar with students in classroom Individualized Education Plan (IEP); helps in monitor student behaviors.
May work with small group of students on activity.
Supervise student(s) at morning activities, lunchroom, recess, after school activities, specials, and bathroom breaks as assigned.
Assists students with clothing (shoes, zippers, gloves, etc.); assists students walking to classrooms, going to recess, and lunchroom, etc.
May work with EL students
Comfortable with technology (laptops, SMART Boards, Google Docs/Sheets, iPads)
Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Basic academic knowledge; General knowledge of IEP; understanding of behavior plans; thorough knowledge of standard office equipment and software; ability to establish and maintain effective working
relationship with co-workers, students, parents and elected officials.
Education and Experience
High School Diploma/GED or higher.Â
Physical Requirements
This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 50 pounds of force; work regularly requires speaking or hearing, frequently requires standing, walking, sitting and using hands to move, handle or feel and occasionally requires stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, pushing or pulling and lifting; work requires close vision and distance vision; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word and conveying detailed or important instructions to others accurately, loudly or quickly; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels and to receive detailed information through oral communications and/or to make fine distinctions in sound; work requires observing general surroundings and activities; work occasionally requires exposure to outdoor weather conditions, exposure to bloodborne pathogens and may be required to wearspecialized personal protective equipment and exposure to bodily fluids; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic).

Special RequirementsÂ
Paraprofessional Test within 6 months of employment if no Associate’s Degree or higher is possessed.

$17.59/hour Per Union Contract
