Cannon Falls School District #252 is seeking a Community Ed Paraprofessional to work as a Cannon Kids Lead and Preschool Para.  These roles focus on supporting the growth and learning of children ages preschool-5th grade in the Cannon Falls community. 

The Community Education Early Childhood Preschool program serves children in the Cannon Falls area between the ages of three to five. This program is 4-star Parent Aware certified which represents programs that best prepare children for kindergarten. 

Cannon Kids is a quality school-age child care program administered by the Community Education Department designed to meet the needs of children of working parents. Cannon Kids emphasizes the development of a child’s social, emotional, physical and intellectual skills within a recreational setting. 

Job duties: 

  • Upholds a safe and welcoming classroom environment that supports child growth and learning. 

  • Assists preschool teachers in classrooms.

  • Develops and implements age-appropriate activities for children in their care, adapting plans to individual child needs. 

    • Activities including but not limited to: arts & crafts, science discovery, music, games, physical activity, drama, reading, and sensory play in a large group or small group setting. 

  • Provides open and continuous communication with parents/caregivers.  

  • Delegates tasks to classroom aide staff. 

  • Assists the Supervisor and Hall Float with making sure children are checked out properly and picked up safely. 

  • Ensures the classroom space is clean and secure at the end of each afternoon. 

This position is also responsible to supervise before and after school programming participants and staff when coordinator leaves site by maintaining Certified Child Care Center regulations set by the state. 

Hours will be Monday-Friday with the following shift available:

Qualifications: 

  • Lead Teacher qualified based on Department of Human Services requirements. 

  • At least one year of experience working with children in a childcare setting is preferred. 

  • Background study clearance.
