POSITION: Bilingual (Spanish) PARAPROFESSIONAL 
LOCATION: MTS SECONDARY
REPORTS TO: BUILDING PRINCIPAL

 
Description: Assist Spanish speaking students with academic learning, problem solving, and overall coursework.
 
Job Summary:

  • Guide and assist students with lessons, activities and technology tasks under the direction of the teacher
  • Problem solving and support of students throughout the school day
  • Reinforce concepts across settings that were taught in specialized instruction
  • Participate in meetings where communication and implementing strategies are discussed
  • Adapt and modify coursework under the direction of the teacher
  • Assist teachers and students with the use of communicate strategies and as directed by the EL teacher
  • Other duties as assigned

 
Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma
  • Fluency in English and Spanish
  • Intermediate computer/keyboarding skills
  • Basic instructional and assistive technology knowledge
  • Advanced reading and writing skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
  • Math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division; ability to compute rate, ratio, percentages and interpret bar graphs
  • Ability to set priorities and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to relate to students including those with disabilities
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of student information at all times
  • Desire to support students in a school environment that is rich in restorative and trauma informed practices
