Pay Grade 17, Local 66 Contract – Cook Assistant CO-III
Pay Grade 15, Local 66 Contract – Custodian C-III

Term: 40 hours per week / 260 days per school year
Cook Assistant CO-III: 20 hrs/wk – 181 days per school year
Custodian C-III: 20 hrs/wk (4 hrs/day / 181 days per school year and 8 hrs/day / 79 days per school year)

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Individual shall be responsible for the preparation, assembling, and serving of food items for the breakfast and lunch program to the students in an acceptable and palatable manner.
- Must have knowledge of meal requirements and keep accurate food production records.
- Individual shall be responsible for the cleanliness of the kitchen area, utensils, and all other equipment.
- May be responsible for receiving of food, supplies, and rotating products.
- May be responsible for keeping accurate food production records, Manager Self Inspection, and Temperature Logs.
- May be responsible for preparing all daily food requests, supply, bread, and milk orders.
- Individual is responsible for the cleanliness of the kitchen area, utensils, and all other equipment according to all HACCP procedures.
- Individual shall perform all other duties that may be assigned by the Food Service Coordinator.Â
Qualifications:Â Â
- Active knowledge of meal requirements and safety and sanitation
- Must have a Food Manager Certificate
- Recommend food service/nutrition background
- Ability to promote and maintain effective communications
- Positive public relations
- Computer skills
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Possesses high standards of work ethics
- Ability to handle money, add, and make change
- The ability to keep accurate food production records
- The ability to prepare all daily food requests, supply, bread, and milk orders
- Ability to work in temperature extremes (walk-in cooler/freezer) hot kitchen environmentÂ
Custodian C-III
Â
The applicant shall be responsible for the following:Â cleanliness of the areas assigned; maintaining and repairing the building and building contents; and performing all other duties that may be assigned by the building principal, district facilities engineer, or superintendent.
- Vacuum and clean carpets
- Sweep or mop all tile floors and entryways as assigned        Â
- Wash all assigned whiteboards daily
- Clean boys’ and girls’ washrooms and locker rooms as assigned
- Dry mop and wet mop stairways and wash down the railings
- Sweep all hallways as assigned and remove black marks on floors
- Dust top and wash front of lockers
- Wash walls and windows; dust; and change light bulbs whenever necessary
- Check and secure all outside doors and windows before leaving
- Operate scrubbing machines
- Heavy lifting and pushing (up to 75 pounds) (e.g., moving furniture, 5-gallon cans of wax, stripping compound and cleaners, moving cases of paper and other supplies, and unloading of trucks)
- Set up and take down of furniture and equipment necessary for educational programs held in the building
- Clean and sanitize wastebaskets and garbage cans
- Perform routine operations in maintenance at heights up to 8-15 feet (i.e., replace light bulbs, ceiling tile, ventilator grids, and painting)
- Remove snow from walkways
- Maintain grounds
- Perform cleaning services in and around the building as needed
- Work together as a team with co-workers
- Work with students, staff, and community members to create a positive environment
- Valid MN Driver’s License
- Other duties as assigned
Screening Procedure:  The District reserves the managerial right to make an assessment of the candidate’s custodial knowledge and physical ability to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position.
