Alexandria Public Schools Community Education offers a wide variety of youth and adult programs throughout the year. Community Education is looking for creative, energetic, and personable people who have a passion for families and have outstanding customer service skills to join our dynamic team.

 

Compass is Alexandria Community Education’s school-age care program, providing before- and after-school, non-school day and summer care for students PreK-5th Grade.  The program is located in all elementary schools and the Early Education Center.  

 

Essential Functions:

  • Provide participants and Compass team with the appropriate leadership
  • Support planning activities that incorporate program goals into the daily routine.
  • Provide a warm and caring atmosphere for participants and colleagues.
  • Maintain a safe environment for participants.
  • Attend staff meetings.
  • Communicate with parents through daily drop off and pick up and/or during parent meetings
  • Provide behavior support for students
  • Apply their unique skillset to assist with the development and implementation of Behavioral Intervention Plans.
  • Help students develop social skills and eliminate or reduce negative or disruptive behaviors

Qualifications:

  • Must have previous experience working with PreK-5th Grade students.
  • Previous leadership experience
  • Be a self starter and perform job with little supervision.
  • Must be able to handle any questions that arise with students, colleagues and/or parents
  • Minimum 18 years old
    Preferred post secondary education

Hours: Monday-Friday 2:00pm-5:30pm/2-3 days per week
