Job Title: Community Education Director

Reporting Relationship: Superintendent

Start Date: Beginning January 27, 2025 through the end of the school year

Salary Range: $45,000-$50,000 plus benefits.

 

Position Summary:

The Community Education Director is responsible for providing leadership, direction and oversight in the development and implementation of community based lifelong learning programs to meet the needs of the community including adult basic education; school readiness and early childhood screening; ECFE programs; youth and adult enrichment programs; and After Wave. This role focuses on fostering lifelong learning, promoting community engagement, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality early childhood education.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage classes / activities that reflect community interests.

  • Develop, implement, and evaluate the district’s preschool programming to meet the needs of children and families in the community.

  • Oversee the operation of community education programs, including scheduling, staffing, and facilities management.

  • Coordinate assessments to monitor student progress and readiness for kindergarten.

  • Prepare and manage the community education budget, ensuring fiscal responsibility and sustainability, including the preschool budget, ensuring efficient use of resources and alignment with program goals.

  • Ensure programs meet local, state, and federal regulations and prepare reports on program outcomes, participation, and financial performance.

  • Recruit, hire, train and evaluate youth and adult enrichment program instructors, school readiness staff and volunteers.

  • Identify and pursue funding opportunities, including grants, to support community education programming to include preschool programming.

  • Act as a liaison between the school district and the community to promote lifelong learning initiatives.

 

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Education, Public Administration, or a related field (Master’s preferred).

  • License: MN Community Education Director License

  • Experience: Preference may be given to candidates with experience in community education, preschool coordination, or related roles and candidates with a strong understanding of early childhood development and education best practices.

  • Skills:

    • Leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

    • Ability to manage multiple programs and responsibilities effectively.

    • Budget management and grant writing expertise.

Work Environment:

  • This position requires flexibility, with time spent in both office settings and at program or preschool sites.

  • Evening and weekend hours may be required for community events and/or preschool programming
