Community Education/Athletics/Activities & Cannon Kids Office Support Staff 

Position Purpose

Under the direct supervision of the Community Education/Athletics/Activities Director, to provide clerical, and administrative assistance, conveying information regarding school functions and procedures; and supporting the broad array of services provided to students and parents of our school district.


Essential Functions

  • Assists in maintaining documents, files and records for the purpose of providing up-to-date reference and audit trail for compliance.

  • Prepare purchase orders for the purpose of submitting to the school district’s accounting/finance office.

  • Assist visitors to the office, including students, parents, substitute teachers, and others.

  • Answers telephone calls, and provides information and assistance to callers.

  • Evaluates situations for the purpose of taking appropriate action and/or directing to appropriate personnel for resolution.

  • Responds to inquiries from students, parents and employees, providing information, facilitating communication among parties and/or providing direction.

  • Maintains accurate billing records for Cannon Kids Child Care and Cannon Falls Preschool programs

  • Communicates with parents, staff, and elementary teachers/office regarding the scheduling for Cannon Kids Child Care

  • Assist the Coordinator with staff scheduling for Cannon Kids Child Care

  • Assist the Director and Coordinator with ensuring the Cannon Kids and PreSchool programs meets and maintains DHS licensing

  • Coordinates and maintains accurate completion of the DHS background check system

  • Assists in planning and scheduling school events and activities, and maintaining calendar of school and students events for the purpose of coordinating and scheduling events such as orientation, open house, field trips, sporting events, assemblies, conferences, etc.

  • Coordinates after school check in and oversees the transition from Elementary School to Cannon Kids Child Care

  • Serves as the Cannon Kids Child Care Site Supervisor

  • Serves as a potential preschool support person in case of absences to staff

Additional Duties

Performs other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the school.

Uses standard office equipment such as personal computer, copy machine, fax machine, telephone.


Travel Requirements

Limited travel to and from meetings may be required.

Works in standard office and school building environments.


Qualification Profile

Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful performance would be qualifying. 

Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:

  • Graduation from High School.

  • Successful experience with office management is preferred. 

  • Successful experience working with children of all ages is preferred

Pay and Benefits:

  • Hourly Pay Range:  17.05 – 19.42 – Scheduled shift will be 8:30 am – 5:00 pm with flex time available as the situation arises

  • Paid Sick hours, Personal hours, Some Holidays.

  • 225 Day contract includes all Teacher scheduled days and up to 3 days per week during the Summer and week long breaks.
