Unaffiliated Level 2, Annual Salary Range is $67,048 – $81,656
Work Schedule is M-F 40 hours/week; full-time, year-round with flexible hours to meet the needs of programs.
Position Description:Â The Community Ed Specialist reports to the Adult and Volunteer Specialist and is responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of Community Ed programs. This is a full-time, year-round position with variable hours depending on the schedule of events. Hours may include occasional nights and weekends.
Responsibilities (see attached position description for complete list):Â
- Assist with developing new programs and modifying existing ones to enhance offerings. Recruit instructors for youth and adult classes. Schedule activities and provide on-call support during evenings and weekends. Support program volunteers and ensure a high standard of customer service. Work with school/district personnel, community organizations, and youth education entities to enhance programs.
- Collaborate with the Communications Department to market programs and grow participation. Assist with creating and managing content for print and digital marketing materials and maintaining program web pages. Promotes and implements quality customer service in conjunction with program staff.
- Evaluates the effectiveness of current programs, modifies current programs, and develops new programs as deemed appropriate by the the supervisorÂ
Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
- Customer service principles.
- Volunteer recruitment and management principles and practices.
- Understanding of how to interact effectively with people of diverse educational, cultural, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
- Familiarity with program development, evaluation, and improvement processes.
- Knowledge of educational programming; adult and youth engagement strategies.
- Awareness of organizational systems and how to manage data for registrations, evaluations, and scheduling.
- Proficiency in technology for word processing, budgeting, billing, and communications (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, Google Suite).
- Marketing and communications knowledge to support program promotion.
- Utilizing communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, and others sufficient to exchange or convey information.
- Excellent verbal and written communication for engaging families, staff, and community.
- Ability to collaborate with diverse teams and departments effectively.
- Capacity to inspire trust through competence, reliability, and sincerity.
- Strong ability to manage multiple projects, set and adjust priorities, and meet deadlines.
