Begins: January 2025
7.75 hrs/day, 194 days per year  (student days, prep and workshop, and paid holidays)
$21.12/hr-$22.87/hr + certification pay, insurance benefits, paid time off

TITLE:                         CHILD NUTRITION – ELEMENTARY SCHOOL ASSISTANT MANAGER
 
QUALIFICATIONS:   

  1. High school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Experience with food services and/or school nutrition programs, preferred.
  3. Ability to perform job duties in a professional and pleasant manner.
  4. Ability to work successfully under the pressure of daily production and service timelines.
  5. Able to lift up to 40 lbs, bend, twist, turn, stand / walk continuously.

 
REPORTS TO:           Director of Child Nutrition Services, Child Nutrition Manager and/or Principal
 
JOB GOALS:              Provide a positive culture for students, staff and parents by serving healthy food options to reflect our commitment to nourish the mind and body of all learners.
 
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Fosters a team environment by assisting all employees with scheduled work demands.
  2. Communicates and interacts positively with students, teachers, staff, parents, and community members.
  3. Instructs kitchen personnel in proper lifting techniques, and the safe and efficient use and cleaning of all kitchen equipment.
  4. Maintains the highest standards of safety and cleanliness in the kitchen and cafeteria.
  5. Prepares food according to a planned menu and tested uniform recipes in proper quantities following dietary guidelines.
  6. Follows budgetary guidelines to reduce waste and unnecessary inventory.
  7. Communicates quality control issues and/or accidents to the manager and director.
  8. Assists manager in determining daily offerings for ala carte.
  9. Ensures served food is of the best quality both in flavor and appearance.
  10. Serves food in an efficient and timely manner.
  11. Periodically works each position in the kitchen suggesting improvements, where needed.
  12. Assists manager with ensuring accurate records are kept for all food served, ordered, and inventoried.
  13. Assists manager in marketing and promoting services to attract students, staff, and parents.
  14. Attends job-related training classes and workshops.
  15. Obtains and maintains all necessary certifications and licenses, including School Nutrition and MN Department of Health Food Manager.
  16. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

 
     
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  As per the contract agreement.
 
EVALUATION:  Performance of this job will be evaluated annually.
