Position Details:Â
We are in search of dedicated Student Mentors to provide individualized academic and behavior support to a defined caseload of students. The Student Mentor will implement interventions designed to promote academic achievement, increase attendance, reduce inappropriate behaviors, and decrease school suspensions. The interventions include, but are not limited to, small group sessions, one-on-one goal setting, and problem solving. The Student Mentor will collaborate with students, families, school personnel, and community agencies to build relationships and implement a strong support system for students and families, while keeping education a salient issue. In addition, Student Mentors are responsible for frequently collecting, documenting, and analyzing data for their caseload students.
Under general supervision, work directly and collaboratively with individual students and their families, school staff, and community service providers to implement strategies that address school success and school completion.Â
Responsibilities:
• Track regularly on target students’ attendance, grades, and behavior, provide regular feedback to students, communicate regularly with families, and collaborate with teachers and other staff members on student progress.
• Analyze data from systematic monitoring to design personalized interventions and document progress.
• Work as a liaison to facilitate communication and promote problem-solving.
• Provide students and families with resources and information to create a link to agencies.
• Attend varied school and district meetings to define and outline roles to improve participation, performance, and success for individual students.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Other Qualifications:Â
• Bachelor’s degree is preferred, in a related field from an approved accredited college or university required. (Additional years of experience may be substituted for the Bachelors Degree)
• Experience in a school setting or similar professional environment preferred.
