Hours: Monday-Thursday, 8am to 4:30pm 
Salary/Hourly Rate: Per the CommEd Agreement, $18.65 to $24.51, DOE. 

JOB SUMMARY
To organize and implement a variety of recreation and enrichment camps for elementary-aged youth at Camp Royal, a summer day camp held at the Eisenhower Elementary School.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plans, leads and implements age-appropriate enrichment, sports classes, and camps under Camp Royal lesson plan guidelines.
  • Be available Monday-Thursday, June 9 to August 14, with limited time off.
  • Prepare materials for camp activities, including individual classes taught and wrap-around time.
  • Work as a part of a team with other Camp Royal leaders for supervised wrap-around care and overall camp functions.
  • Enforce all policies, rules and regulations established by Hopkins Community Education.
  • Interact with parents and community members in a professional, courteous, friendly, and helpful manner.
  • Supervise children using positive discipline to maintain an informal, orderly, and safe environment.
  • Provide direction and supervision of Camp Royal Assistants and volunteers.
  • Complete attendance records, weekly schedules, accident reports, and all other reports as requested.
  • Maintain proper care and use of equipment and facilities.
  • Follow district safety procedures and guidelines and ensure that safety precautions are taken in all activities.
  • Demonstrate and teach appropriate social skills to youth through role modeling and positive reinforcement.
  • Perform other related duties as requested by supervisor.

EDUCATION / CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS 

  • Entry-level position. Preference will be given to applicants who have experience and/or college course work in teaching, recreation services, child development, or a related field.
  • Preference will be given to applicants who are able to work Monday – Thursday, June 9 to August 14.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS 

  • Applicant must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
  • Applicant must demonstrate experience working with children in a school or camp setting.
  • Applicant must be physically active and able to lift 20 lbs.
  • Applicant must submit to a Criminal Background Check.
  • Applicant must be available to go through Camp Royal Leader training.
