Description
Position Function:
Under the direct supervision of the Facilities & Transportation Specialist, transport students to and from school and school activities on a district owned school bus. Â
Essential Functions:
- Perform pre and post trip inspections.
- Drive designated AM and PM routes on school days.Â
- Supervise students while transporting them each day.Â
- Monitor and fuel up the school bus as needed.
- Clean the bus each day or as needed. Â

- Communicate as needed with parents and the Facilities & Transportation Specialist.
- Assist with driving some extracurricular trips.
- Performs other related tasks as assigned by supervisor.

Equipment
- Must be licensed and trained to drive a public school bus.
- Communicate clearly via two-way digital radio.
Safety Requirements
- Follows all applicable safety rules, procedures and regulations pertaining to transporting students on a school bus.
- Wears appropriate safety gear.
- Implement routine safety inspections and bus evacuation drills.Â
- Participate in and pass required drug tests.Â
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Possession of a current MN Commercial Drivers License (Type B)
- Ability to follow oral or written work orders from supervisor, and to coordinate work with principal and others.
- Ability to read, write and speak English fluently.
- Ability to describe orally or in writing cleaning, maintenance or repair problems as needed.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff and others contacted in the course of work.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure.
- Ability to drive in poor weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, or snow.
- Ability to perform work according to standard procedures and schedule set forth by supervisor(s).
Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards
- Ability to drive in difficult weather conditions.
- Ability to supervise students.
- Ability to get on and off of a school bus frequently and facilitate bus evacuation drills.
Qualifications Profile:
- High School Diploma or completion of sufficient education to successfully perform the duties of the position.
- Current MN Commercial Drivers License (Type B)
