Job Summary
In-house substitute teachers are responsible for providing rigorous, standards-based, and highly engaging learning environments for their scholars. The in-house substitute will be charged with following a teacher’s plan in order to lead instruction whenever a teacher is out of the building. The in-house substitute will strive to ensure that all Hiawatha Academies scholars are empowered with the knowledge, character, and leadership skills to graduate from college and serve the common good.  

The in-house substitute will work alongside teachers and paraeducators, and under the guidance of campus leadership.

Hiawatha Employment Logistics

  • Hiawatha Collegiate High School students’ school day is from 8:45 a.m. – 3:45 p.m. Monday-Thursday and 8:45 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. on Friday.  Staff hours are 8:15 a.m. – 4:15 p.m. Monday-Friday.
  • Professional development sessions are held each Friday from 2:15 p.m.  – 4:15 p.m.
  • All Hiawatha staff are expected to attend and participate in relevant evening family events to be held at the school.
